Jim Dougherty, a San Diego native and US Marine veteran. He defied the odds to leave an indelible mark on the pet industry.
Driven by his entrepreneurial flair, Jim converted vacant warehouses and grocery stores into spectacular pet havens. Leveraging strategic partnerships with leading manufacturers and distributors, he birthed two iconic brands: Petsmart and Petsense by Tractor Supply - unrivaled one-stop-shops for pet owners.
Jim's vision welcomed customers and their furry companions without ever selling animals. Instead, he partnered with local pet rescuers to host adoption events that helped provide abandoned pets loving homes while simultaneously building a dedicated clientele of pet owners.
